Privacy Policy

Section 1 – What Do We Do With Your Information?
When you purchase something from our store, we collect the personal information you provide, such as your name, address, phone number, and email address. This information is used to complete your transaction and to understand consumer purchasing habits. We also store your purchase history to assist you in the future if you contact our customer service.

When you browse our store, we automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer, landing page, and time spent on the site.

Email marketing (if applicable): With your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products, and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of the email.
We never sell your information to third parties.

Section 2 – Consent
How do you give consent?
When you provide personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, or arrange for delivery/returns, you imply consent for us to collect and use it for that specific reason only. If we need it for a secondary purpose like marketing, we will ask for your express consent or give you an opportunity to decline.

How to withdraw consent

Section 3 – Disclosure
We may disclose your information if required by law or if you violate our Terms of Service. We may also share your name and address with shipping providers like FedEx or UPS to fulfill your order. We do not sell your information to any third parties.

Section 4 – Shopify
Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide the platform for selling our products and services. Your data is stored securely behind a firewall in Shopify’s databases.

Payment
If you choose a direct payment gateway, Shopify securely stores your credit card data, encrypted per PCI-DSS standards. Transaction data is retained only as long as needed to complete your order, after which it is deleted.
Oceanvista does not store your credit card information.
All payment gateways follow PCI-DSS, governed by the PCI Security Standards Council (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), to ensure secure processing.

Section 5 – Third-Party Services
Third-party providers we use only collect and use your information as needed to perform their services. For services like payment processors, they may have their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their policies to understand how they handle your data.

Some providers may be located in jurisdictions outside of your own. For example, if you're in Canada and your payment is processed in the U.S., your data may be subject to U.S. laws (e.g., the Patriot Act).

Once you leave our site or are redirected to a third-party site/app, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for other sites’ privacy practices.

Section 6 – Security
We take precautions to protect your personal data and follow industry best practices. Credit card data is encrypted using SSL and stored with AES-256 encryption. Though no method is 100% secure, we comply with PCI-DSS and accepted industry standards.

Section 7 – Cookies
Here are some cookies we use so you can decide whether to opt out:

  • _session_id: unique token, session-based, stores session info (referrer, landing page)

  • _shopify_visit: no data held, persistent 30 mins, internal stats tracking

  • _shopify_uniq: no data held, expires midnight, counts individual visits

  • cart: unique token, persistent 2 weeks, stores cart contents

  • _secure_session_id: unique token, session-based

  • storefront_digest: unique token, indefinite, used to validate password access if set

Section 8 – Age of Consent
By using this site, you confirm that you are at least the age of majority in your state/province, or that you have provided consent for any minor dependents to use the site.

Section 9 – Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this policy at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon posting. If significant updates are made, we will indicate them here. If our business is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred to the new owner.

Section 10 – California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
Under California Civil Code Section 1798.100 et seq., California residents have the right to request:

  • Categories of personal information collected

  • Sources of personal information

  • Business/commercial purpose for collection

  • Categories of third parties with whom data is shared

  • Specific pieces of personal data collected

  • Deletion of personal data

Oceanvista will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights, including by:

  • Denying goods/services

  • Charging different prices or imposing penalties

  • Offering different quality of goods/services

  • Suggesting any such difference in treatment

Section 11 – Text Marketing and Notifications
By entering your phone number at checkout, subscribing via a form or keyword, you agree to receive text notifications (including abandoned cart reminders) and text marketing (no more than 30/month). Consent is not required for purchases.

To unsubscribe, reply STOP to any message or use the unsubscribe link. Alternate opt-out methods will not be recognized. Message and data rates may apply.
